It has been over a month since my last post, so I wanted to give you an update on what’s happening.
I am working on some posts about our Atlanta trip in April, but they will be posted on my forthcoming website that I hope to launch in the early summer. You will find new content there and eventually a lot more.
It has taken me so long to get this going, but I am in the final stretch. I have had many ideas and thoughts about what it should be, and what it could be. The truth is, I still don’t know. But if I don’t take action, I’ll never find out. It occurred to me that maybe I’ll take you along for the ride, too.
Back in September, I attended TravelCon. That set forth a new trajectory in my life that has been ever so slowly but surely moving me towards the kind of life that I never thought possible. It is a mindset shift that is opening me up to possibilities and opportunities that I truly believe will one day allow me to live my passion, which is of course travel.
Anyone who knows me would say “What?! You’re already traveling all the time.” It’s true that I try to travel as much as possible, and I am very grateful for each and every trip I take. But think to yourself, if you only had 2-3 weeks a year to be fully and wholly yourself, would you settle for that and think it’s enough? Or would you try to keep going?
I would be doing myself and really anyone who follows me a disservice to accept the status quo as all that life has to offer. I may be “over the hill” but I have just begun my journey towards a more purposeful existence.
What does this mean? You are familiar with the phrase “gut feelings” and have been told to “listen to your gut,” right? That “gut” of mine has sent signals and now I know–KNOW beyond any shred of doubt–that there is *something* else in life I’m meant to do. I simply cannot ignore it any longer. There is a clarity now that is undeniable, and at the same time I am trying to figure out what it means.
This is where you come in! You see, I want you to be inspired to take your own adventures. Perhaps you can’t or don’t want to go to some of the places I do, and that’s OK! There are plenty of things to do and places to go right in your own back yard. I will be adding my own “backyard” posts related to Kansas, Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC.
Here’s what else you can expect…the unexpected. How cliche! Truthfully, I want to take you on a journey with me. That means that while I can promise to write about places I’ve been, travel tips, and suggestions, there’s going to be a lot of unknowns. I will bring you the highs and lows and frustrations of this sojourn so that you may know it’s worth following your passion.
Typically I prefer traveling solo, but this time I want you to come along. With all the strife and uncertainty in today’s world, I need to believe that there is a way I can make it better, even if that’s just one small thing for one person. Imagine if all of us did that how much brighter this world would be.
See you soon!
